Duane "Deno" Einhaus, 54, of Ottawa passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Rock River Hospice Home in Sterling, IL.
A memorial mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am Monday, October 25 at St. Patrick's Church, with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 9 to 10 am, prior to services, at the church. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
Deno was born August 8, 1967 to Robert and Sandra (Nielsen) Einhaus. He was raised in Ottawa and graduated from Ottawa Township High School with the class of 1986. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in business from ISU before working at GE Plastics and Sabic. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends, and especially enjoyed a good game of Texas Hold 'Em. He loved horses and enjoyed watching the family horses race over the years with his father and brothers. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church.
Growing up, Deno was always a fan of sports, playing both football and baseball. He was known as being a record Homerun hitter while playing for the Angels little league team. He extended that love of sports when his children were growing up by coaching his son in baseball. For several years, Deno could be found playing a game of softball for the Ottawa Recreational Softball League.
Although he fought many hard battles with several medical issues over the past 10 years including diabetes, Deno always had a smile on his face. He will be most fondly remembered as a fun-loving person with a big heart. He was known as the family prankster and was always joking around making everyone laugh.
He is survived by his mother, Sandra; three children, Rachel, Dean, and Shelby Einhaus; three brothers, Lester (Tina), Mike (Lori), and Tony Einhaus; two sisters, Theresa Poundstone and Debbie (Ken) Knoll; his sister-in-law, Debra Einhaus; nieces and nephews, Cassandra, Austin, Tristina, Jayonah, and Chase Einhaus, Trenton and Alana Einhaus, Marie, Blake, and Adam Poundstone, Payton, Cooper, Bella, and Carson Knoll; great-nephew and niece, Levi and Olivia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; his brother, Terence; and his nephew, Ryan Poundstone.
Honorary pallbearers will be Blake and Adam Poundstone, Payton, Cooper, Bella, and Carson Knoll.
Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, St. Patrick's Church, or family's wishes.
